Drivhuseffekten opvarmer Jorden, gletsjere smelter, og vejret går amok. Syreregn slår skovene ihjel. Ozonlaget ædes op af kemikalier og efterlader os uden beskyttelse mod Solens skadelige ultraviolette stråler. Dommedagsprofetierne er velkendte, men de sidste 20 år viser, at vi faktisk kan gøre en hel del ved problemerne.
